Paros is located in the center of the Aegean Sea and the archipelago of the Cyclades. The smooth terrain and the good road network allow easy access to the numerous beaches of the island. It is one of the most picturesque islands, with mountainous traditional settlements with traditional cafes under mulberries, but also many seaside fishing villages with picturesque harbors. The beaches are numerous and beautiful and the visitor has many options every day. Apart from the beaches, one can visit remarkable historical monuments and sights, such as Panagia Ekatontapyliani, the Archaeological Museum in Parikia, the Venetian Castle and the Folklore Museum in Naoussa, as well as the ancient quarries where the famous Parian marble comes from. During the summer, events, festivals, concerts and experiential cultural festivals are organized in many places (eg Routes in Marpissa, Pirate Festival in Naoussa). At a distance of ten minutes by ferry is the island of Antiparos, with beautiful beaches and nightlife. From Paros, one-day cruises to Mykonos and the small Cyclades are organized daily. It is 95 nautical miles from Piraeus and is served daily in summer with 6-10 routes of conventional and high-speed ferries, which makes the trip to Paros very easy. Travel time is 4 hours and 15 minutes from
Piraeus with conventional ferries and 2 hours and 30 minutes by speedboats. It is also connected to the port of Lavrio and the port of Rafina. It also has an airport with 3 daily flights from El. Venizelos of Athens. The flight takes 25 minutes. In the summer of 2016, the new airport of Paros was put into operation with more flights from abroad.
Beaches
The very popular beaches are Santa Maria, Kolimbithres and the Monastery, located on the north side of Paros. For more peace one can visit Lageri or the small bays in Filizi, but also the beaches of Alyki and Faranga on the south side. On the west side are the beaches of Agia Irini, Krios, Marcello and Parasporos, while on the east Ambelas, Dryos, the back Livadi, Logaras, Pounta, Chrysi Akti. Paros is the ideal place for lovers of water sports and especially surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, with famous beaches such as Santa Maria, Chrysi Akti and Pounta.
